She just didn't feel like teaching was her calling. It wasn't that she didn't like children, because she did. There had to be something she could do that didn't involve teaching. She had enough money saved up that she could continue to pay her room and board to the family she'd lived with for a few more months until she found another job. She loved children, but she hated teaching, and she just couldn't keep doing it indefinitely. There had to be another job she could take. She'd been teaching in the little schoolroom outside of Beckham, Massachusetts for two years, and she wasn't going to go back. ANNA SIMMONS LEANED back in her chair in the schoolroom and let out a sigh of relief.
